School Bike Education

School Bike Education Program

CycleSense delivers a 5 week program adapted from AusCycling’s ‘Ride Nation’ national junior bike education program that is linked to the national Personal Development Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) curriculum.

This practical, progressive, fun program provides students with the skills, confidence and experience to ride a bike safely.

The program is delivered in Perth, Western Australia by AusCycling accredited coaches over five one hour sessions (20 – 30 students per class).

We are happy to modify the program to cater for individual school requirements. Please contact CycleSense to discuss.

School Bike Education and Safety Workshop

CycleSense delivers a condensed Bike Education and Safety Workshop for schools. This workshop introduces students of all ages to the knowledge and skills required to ride safely in traffic and non-traffic environments.

This educational, interactive session is delivered by AusCycling accredited coaches in a fun, learning environment. The workshop is generally 45 – 90 minutes and focuses on three key components of bike safety:

Preparing to ride

  • understanding your bike
  • basic bike check
  • helmet and equipment check

Understanding how to ride

  • identifying the skills of riding
  • rules and etiquette of riding on paths and roads

Improving your riding

  • skill development
  • fitness

The workshop is conducted with a ratio of 15 students to an instructor for the practical components. A small number of bikes and helmets are provided, however, students are encouraged to bring their own bikes and helmets for the session.

Please note: If required, presentations/sessions can be modified to suit individual school needs. Shorter sessions are available that focus on specific components or areas that may be considered a priority.
