School Bike Education Program
CycleSense delivers a four week School Bike Education program adapted from AusCycling’s ‘Ride Nation’ national junior bike education program that is linked to the national Personal Development Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) curriculum.
This practical, progressive, fun program provides students with the skills, confidence and experience to ride a bike safely.
The program is delivered in Perth, Western Australia and the Gold Coast, Queensland by AusCycling accredited coaches over four one hour sessions (20 – 30 students per class).

Each session in the 4 week program is around 1 hour though we can modify the duration to suit your school’s timetable.

We recommend a maximum class size of 30 students.
What year group is the Bike Ed program best suited to?
We can adapt the program to run with any school year level though we find it is most beneficial for Year 4 – 6 students.

School Bike Education and Safety Workshop
CycleSense delivers a condensed Bike Education and Safety Workshop for schools. This workshop introduces students of all ages to the knowledge and skills required to ride safely in traffic and non-traffic environments.
This educational, interactive session is delivered by AusCycling accredited coaches in a fun, learning environment. The workshop is generally 45 – 90 minutes and focuses on three key components of bike safety:
Preparing to ride
- understanding your bike
- basic bike check
- helmet and equipment check
Understanding how to ride
- identifying the skills of riding
- rules and etiquette of riding on paths and roads
Improving your riding
- skill development
- fitness
The workshop is conducted with a ratio of 15 students to an instructor for the practical components. A small number of bikes and helmets are provided, however, students are encouraged to bring their own bikes and helmets for the session.
Please note: If required, presentations/sessions can be modified to suit individual school needs. Shorter sessions are available that focus on specific components or areas that may be considered a priority.
